March 19, 2020 (2:45 p.m.)
This update only applies to students enrolled in Field Experience Courses of Early Childhood Education programs.
Today, Rasmussen College implemented an additional change to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect students enrolled in its Early Childhood Education programs—as well as the children served by those students. Effective immediately, Field Experience courses that require work within a childcare setting will not be held during the Spring 2020 Quarter. Students enrolled in these courses will be moved to the equivalent Explorations courses, as follows:
- Students scheduled for EEC1960 Field Experience I will be moved to EEC1970 ECE Explorations I
- Students scheduled for EEC1961 Field Experience II will be moved to EEC1971 ECE Explorations II
- Students scheduled for EEC1962 Field Experience III will be moved to EEC1972 ECE Explorations III
Explorations courses use the same course competencies as the Field Experience courses, but instead of requiring students to put their work into practice at a site, the courses require students to apply their learning through the use of videos and case studies. Because these courses use the same competencies, your educational journey will not be delayed. Your Explorations course will include weekly discussion forum posts and assignments using extensive video content. If you have any questions about your schedule, please reach out to your Advisor.
If you have questions on how this may impact your work in early childhood education, please contact Mary Muhs, Early Childhood Education Department Chair, at [email protected] or call 952-830-3832.
We appreciate your understanding as we make this move to completely online for the immediate future. Stay safe and healthy, and again do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have regarding this change.
