Decisions regarding future Rasmussen College graduation and pinning ceremonies.
Over the past few weeks, Rasmussen College has had to make some quick and difficult decisions in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. These decisions have been made based on what we believe will be in the best interest of the College community while balancing the ever-changing government-imposed health and safety mandates.
One of the most difficult decisions we have had to make is the decision to cancel graduation and pinning ceremonies. On March 13, we announced that the College was cancelling ceremonies through April 30. Since that time, additional stay-at-home orders have been issued and extended in states planning on hosting later ceremonies. Because the College recognizes the advanced planning that upcoming graduates need to order and send invitations, schedule travel for family members and order graduation regalia, the College is making the early decision to extend its cancellation of all graduation and pinning ceremonies scheduled through June 30, 2020.
While we know this is disappointing to hear, the College believes this event, which is the culmination and celebration of our students’ hard work, should be a light-hearted and joyous celebration, not one that is marked by putting our community at unnecessary risk.
As of today, the College has not made a final decision regarding any ceremonies scheduled in July. The College is weighing all options and monitoring changes to stay-at-home orders. By May 15, the College will make a final determination regarding July graduation and pinning ceremonies, and we will post this information in another update here.
We want each of you to know that we value you as a member of the Rasmussen College family, and wish each of you good health.
